Amaro (Ud-Italy) September 8, 2004 – The Eurotech Group today announced the acquisition of Vikerkaar Oy, a Finnish company specialized in microcomputer products for Northern Europe and China. Renamed Eurotech Oy, this newly acquired division strengthens the international sales and engineering reach of the Eurotech Group in the Asian and Nordic markets.

“Through the acquisition of Vikerkaar Oy, our Group means to especially increase its presence in the Chinese market, a region we have intently watched for several years – says Roberto Siagri, President and CEO of the Eurotech Group – From a geographical point of view, Finland is the door of Europe to central Asian markets, and we are convinced that the Chinese market guarantees strong growth into the future: this is why we have made this additional investment to our infrastructure in the region. Thanks to the experience of the Finnish team, which includes a number of Chinese engineers, together with our existing Shanghai office, Eurotech will have an even more prominent position in the market.”

All operations for the Group in the Chinese market now report to Mr. Tomi Hanninen, Managing Director of Eurotech Oy, who on behalf of Eurotech, has recently signed an important agreement with the University of Nanjing, China, to support a centre of research on embedded computers.
