Concept: Siamo all’inizio dell’era delle nano-macchine, macchine costruite a partire da atomi e molecole combinando assieme i “mattoni” primari della materia. Le potenzialità delle tecnologie su scala atomica sono state enunciate nel 1959 in un famoso discorso tenuto da uno dei più grandi fisici dello scorso secolo: Richard Feynman. Ci sono voluti circa trent’anni da allora per incominciare a vedere dei prodotti commerciali. Ora però siamo entrati in una fase di accelerazione e i ritmi del progresso nel settore saranno sempre più sostenuti da grandi innovazioni, già in questo decennio. Negli ultimi anni si sono realizzati parecchi materiali sintetici nanotecnologici che migliorano la qualità delle superfici o le proprietà dei materiali, e siamo oggi agli albori della costruzione di sistemi meccanicamente complessi su scala atomica e in grado di compiere azioni pre-programmate.

This powerful, multilayer switch enables demanding military and civil IP networking technology refresh programs to leverage the best that Cisco switching technology has to offer, but in a ruggedized 19” rack mount solution suitable for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) applications.

This rugged Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) product extends the application use of industry-leading Cisco hardware through mechanical enhancement that support deployment of data and multimedia services in wider thermal, shock, vibration, altitude, and humidity conditions than offered by the standard commercial Cisco version. The DuraNET 4948 integrates redundant aircraft-grade power supplies, internal heaters, enhanced heatsinking, and upgraded cooling fans with efficient front-to-back chassis airflow management to reduce data center operating costs.

Suitable for demanding military ground vehicle, aircraft, and maritime installations, the DuraNET 4948 comes equipped with rugged MIL-38999 connector interfaces, bringing out a total of 48 Gigabit Ethernet downlinks, plus three 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks (2 Copper/1 Fiber) and a Gigabit Fiber uplink. The unit features Cisco’s full-featured Enterprise Services IOS software image with the advanced Quality of Service (QoS), high availability, security, and manageability that customers expect from Cisco for critical data center architectures, including advanced Layer 3 routing protocol support, 3DES encryption and network management tools.

Eurotech Partners with Energy International to Supply a Digital Whiteboards Solution for Announcements and Video Messages on University Campus

Amaro (Italy) – January 16th, 2012 – Eurotech, a leading supplier of embedded technologies, products and systems, today announces they have received a contract from Energy International for a total estimated value of 1.7M USD to supply the Eurotech display computer as the processing platform for digital whiteboards. Eurotech signed a 12-month agreement to supply the hardware and infrastructure for college dorm room digital whiteboards.
A state-of-the-art university will use the digital whiteboards in dormitories to provide students with university announcements, schedule changes, video messages and other information. Timely display of such messages will keep students informed of happenings that affect them on a real-time basis.

Compliance with Aviation, Space and Defense Quality System Requirements Ensures Customer Satisfaction

Encompassing all ISO 9001:2008 quality management requirements, AS9100 Rev C specifies additional requirements for aviation, space, and defense organizations. Parvus first earned its AS9100 Rev B Certification in December 2010 and elected to upgrade to Rev C to meet the industry’s newest and highest standards of quality. Leveraging Parvus’ engineering heritage with rugged IP networking products for military vehicle and aerospace platforms, the DuraNET 10-10, is a lower-cost alternative geared towards civilian defense and mobile tactical / critical infrastructure applications. Requiring no configuration to operate, the device features five IEEE 802.3/u compliant (10/100mpbs) Ethernet transceiver ports and support for auto-MDI-MDIX network installation. Any of its five transceiver ports are flexibly designed to serve as an uplink. Support for auto-crossover, auto-polarity, auto-negotiation, and bridge loop prevention are all integrated. A non-blocking switching fabric provides excellent data transmission performance at wire speed.
