rugged low-cost IP67 Ethernet switch targeting homeland defense applications, such as border security, disaster recovery, first responder vehicles, drug enforcement and other civilian mobile, tactical and/or outdoor applications subjected to extreme temperatures, shock, vibration, dust, rain, and/or physical impact.

Leveraging Parvus’ engineering heritage with rugged IP networking products for military vehicle and aerospace platforms, the DuraNET 10-10, is a lower-cost alternative geared towards civilian defense and mobile tactical / critical infrastructure applications. Without sacrificing reliability or performance, the product boasts a dust- and water-proof design with IP67 environmental protection that will appeal to more cost-sensitive commercial user applications that may not require MIL-STD compliance.

Featuring a robust mechanical design and extended temperature operation from -40ºC to +85ºC (-40ºF to +185ºF), the DuraNET 10-10 network switch provides five 10/100 plug-and-play Ethernet ports over rugged field deployable RJ-45 or M12 connectors in a sealed and fanless metal chassis designed for mounting to any machine or flat surface. With provisions for exposure to wide thermal ranges, shock, vibration, dust particles, and liquid immersion, the rugged DuraNET 10-10 combines proven and open-architecture PC104 Ethernet switch and vehicle-grade power supply components in a rugged package designed for maximum reliability under extreme conditions, including provisions for hazardous locations and potentially explosive atmospheres.

As an unmanaged Ethernet switch, the DuraNET 10-10 is designed to provide local area network (LAN) connectivity to IP-enabled equipment, such as onboard computers, cameras, sensors, monitoring devices, and command-and-control gear for situation awareness and information sharing. Requiring no configuration to operate, the device features five IEEE 802.3/u compliant (10/100mpbs) Ethernet transceiver ports and support for auto-MDI-MDIX network installation. Any of its five transceiver ports are flexibly designed to serve as an uplink. Support for auto-crossover, auto-polarity, auto-negotiation, and bridge loop prevention are all integrated. A non-blocking switching fabric provides excellent data transmission performance at wire speed.

Cisco IOS-Managed DuraMAR® 5915 Delivers SWaP-Optimized, Ultra-Rugged MIL/COTS Migration Path for Cisco 3200 Mobile Router Platforms

Amaro (Italy), 16 August 2011 – Eurotech subsidiary Parvus announces the DuraMAR 5915, an ultra-rugged Commercial-Off the Shelf (COTS) mobile router subsystem based on the new 5915 Embedded Services Router (ESR) card from Cisco Systems. Optimized for Size, Weight and Power (SWaP), as well as mechanical robustness under extreme environmental conditions per MIL-STD-810G (thermal, shock, vibration, humidity, dust, water), the DuraMAR 5915 enables prime contractors and civilian agencies to deploy Cisco Mobile Ready Net capabilities, including data, video, and voice services virtually anywhere LAN or WAN connectivity may be required, particularly in mobile, airborne, ground, manned or unmanned vehicle applications. The DuraMAR 5915 features dual WAN uplinks and is available as either a standalone 5 port (2+3) network router or with an integrated Gigabit Ethernet switch for a total of 19 Ethernet ports to extends Ethernet port density and switching bandwidth beyond the standard commercial Cisco 5915 product.

With software built upon the Cisco 3270 IOS architecture, the DuraMAR 5915 delivers the performance, security, advanced Quality of Service (QoS), high availability and manageability expected from Cisco Enterprise IOS-based routing technology. The unit supports extensive IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocols, IP multicasting, Radio Aware Routing (RAR), Dynamic Link Exchange Protocol (DLEP) and Mobile IP routing for transparent connectivity to a roaming vehicle network in Comms on the Move (COTM) applications. An onboard AES hardware encryption engine offloads encryption processing from the router to provide highly secure yet scalable data, video, and voice services.

Leveraging stackable PC104 subassemblies and a modular enclosure design, the DuraMAR 5915 unit is completely sealed, requires no active cooling, provides interfaces over MIL-C-38999 style connectors, and features a military-grade power supply supporting aircraft (MIL-STD-704F) and ground/marine (MIL-STD-1275D) vehicle voltage inputs, pikes, and transient levels, as well as MIL-STD-461F EMI/EMC filtering.

WR11xx – Rugged Wearable Computer

From Eurotech advanced solutions for video surveillance applications

Amaro, Udine (Italy) – October 14, 2005 – Eurotech will shortly be releasing a new, rugged, compact and low power system for video surveillance applications that further integrates the advanced functionalities of a DVR (Digital Video Recorder) that have the ability to acquire and store high resolution video streams onto an integrated data storage module, and will then allow the user to transmit the images trough long distance wireless connections (GPRS, UMTS, WiFi 802.11.X, Bluetooth). The system will dynamically use the available bandwidth continually ensuring that the maximum possible information can be sent with minimum data loss.

The Eurotech system by fully utilizing the advanced capabilities offered by the new JPEG2000 compression standard analyses the acquired images and then compresses them. The result of this compression is a file that can be sent in its totality or partially. In any case only a few kilobytes contain all the necessary information to rebuild the original images: the quality depends on how many bytes are sent. This quantity can be changed dynamically according to bandwidth availability or according to the required image quality.

In this way the use of the broadcast bandwidth will be both flexible and optimal according to the end-users requirements, minimizing the loss of information and image corruption.

However, the internal storage device in the system stores all the video streams made of high resolution frames and then analysis can be made later from a remote operating centre.

The Eurotech system is also provided with a new integrated intelligence called “Guardian” that allows the user to monitor the operating parameters (such as temperature and internal voltages) and to manage the command execution logic even if the system is in standby mode.

Thanks to their versatile architecture several Eurotech systems can be interconnected together (for example one for each carriage of a train or bus) to create a complete and advanced video surveillance network.

In this way several different public transportation vehicles can be equipped with Eurotech systems that can be accessed by a remote control centre in real time to improve coordination and planning of operations. This helps to guarantee passenger security and peace of mind at all times.
